KinderGarten Update and News

Wow, everyday just seems to get better and better with so many of you supporting! We're a little under halfway from hitting the first stretch goal which is amazing. We can get there, just gotta keep spreading the word!

Also there's only 3 more days left to get in your Lucy contribution to have a chance to be in the gallery section of the book IF we hit the stretch goal.

I'll be posting all of the contributing artists later in the week. But for now here's a new piece for the gallery and potential new story.

And on Sunday, some people got a taste of one of the stories being read by CreepsMcPasta and you can see it here.

Thanks everyone and keep sharing! Let's see if we can hit the second stretch goal before time runs out!

The Lost Lucy Gallery Entries
over 9 years ago – Fri, Sep 30, 2016 at 01:49:26 PM

Hey fellow creepy fans! We're coming down to the last few weeks and we're still about $4k away from the first (and maybe only???) stretch goal. When and if we hit that goal, I'll be including 10 or so of my favorite entries from fans to be included into the Lost Lucy Gallery portion of the book. On top of that remember, you get an extra story, "The Dream Catcher"!

I wanted to showcase the entries so far, and if you're wanting to submit, you have until the end of today 9/15. The entries are all amazing and it's gonna be hard as hell to choose. The winners that I do choose will all receive a free copy of Kindergarten

Keep sharing and let's make the gallery a reality and new addition to the book. And remember, I have more stretch goals planned if we can reach em. For those of you who've backed this project. This book is happening because of you all. Thank you!

The story behind the story "Gentle Swing"
over 9 years ago – Fri, Sep 30, 2016 at 01:49:17 PM

With only 19 days left in the KS I thought I'd share some insight on where some of these stories came from. Hope you enjoy.

The sketch

Back in January of 2015, I came up with this concept while still figuring out what direction I wanted to take the book.

The Meaning

The concept behind the story is in result of having a Father that's constantly in "go" mode with no free time to be there for his children on an emotional level. With my work with Cyanide & Happiness, my personal art, commissions, part time nursing for health benefits, and running a clothing line, relationships can be strained. I'm always in motion and always creating and I tend to forget I have children that need/deserve my attention. I've become much better at putting time aside completely dedicated to family but an artist's mind doesn't stop. So I try to keep a notepad with me just in case.

I wanted to tell a story that captures the feeling a child might experience with a parent who's always busy and never there even in the same house. But personify that workaholic mentality into something of a more darker manifestation that ultimately drives the parent to act in an unhealthy way. Without spoiling how we get from point A to point B (though the end is pretty much known in the art itself) I wanted to portray the child's inability to full understand her parent's motive with such a young and impressionable mind. I hope to have captured that, and even if you aren't a parent. I hope that the story as well as the rest can surround you in an unsettled atmosphere.

On a fun note, after seeing "Light's Out" , there's some concepts in that movie that could relate to Gentle Swing. But I'll let you wonderful backers decide on that.

Stretch goal 1 unlocked!!!!?!?!?!?!?
over 9 years ago – Fri, Sep 30, 2016 at 01:48:46 PM

Wow guys. With all the ups and downs of this past week, I woke up this morning to being blown away by so much awesome support!

We've unlocked stretch goal 1, but let's not stop there! I have some more ideas in mind and wanted to give you guys a peek into em!

I'll be posting a thank you video later this week!

Stretch Goal 1: If we can hit the 30k goal I'll be adding a spot varnish to the cover of the book to give it some extra creepiness to it. I'll also be adding another story, The Dream Catcher, bringing the total stories to 12. The book will also be expanded to include the Lost Lucy Gallery which consists of fan submitted versions of Lucy as well as artist I look up !

Stretch Goal 2: If we can hit the 2nd stretch goal I'll be releasing the book with the infant skull gold foil version (the original cover will be on the interior) along with the spot varnish finish and an additional creepy poem and more art!

Stretch Goal 3: Along with all of the previous stretch goal rewards I'll also include the kickstarter only 4th installment of my Scars & Sketches collection of art. Bringing the total page count around 80 to 100 pages!

Thank you all again!
